Royally Endowed by Emma Chase COVER REVEAL

Logan St. James is a smoldering, sexy beast. Sure, he can be a little broody at times—but Ellie Hammond’s willing to overlook that. Because, have you seen him??

Sexy. As. Hell.

And Ellie’s perky enough for both of them.

For years, she’s had a crush on the intense, protective royal security guard—but she doesn’t think he ever saw her, not really.

To Logan, Ellie was just part of the job—a relative of the royal family he’d sworn to protect. Now, at 22 years old and fresh out of college, she’s determined to put aside her X-rated dreams of pat-downs and pillow talk, and find a real life happily ever after.

The Queen of Wessco encourages Ellie to follow in her sister’s footsteps and settle down with a prince of her own. Or a duke, a marquis…a viscount would also do nicely.

But in the pursuit of a fairy tale ending, Ellie learns that the sweetest crushes can be the hardest to let go. *** Logan St. James grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, in a family on the wrong side of the law. But these days, he covers his tattoos and scars with a respectable suit. He’s handsome, loyal, brave, skilled with his hands and…other body parts.

Any woman would be proud to bring him home to her family.

But there’s only one woman he wants.

For years he’s watched over her, protected her, held her hair back when she was sick, taught her how to throw a punch, and spot a liar.

He dreams of her. Would lay down his life for her.

But beautiful Ellie Hammond’s off-limits.

Everybody knows the bodyguard rules: Never lose focus, never let them out of your sight, and never, ever fall in love.

Walk of Shame by Lauren Layne REVIEW

Walk of Shame (Love Unexpectedly)

Twitter     Facebook     Website     Goodreads
Sparks fly between a misunderstood New York socialite and a cynical divorce lawyer in this lively standalone rom-com from the USA Today bestselling author of Blurred Lines and Love Story.

Pampered heiress Georgianna Watkins has a party-girl image to maintain, but all the shopping and clubbing is starting to feel a little bit hollow—and a whole lot lonely. Though Georgie would never admit it, the highlights of her week are the mornings when she comes home at the same time as her uptight, workaholic neighbor is leaving to hit the gym and put in a long day at the office. Teasing him is the most fun Georgie’s had in years—and the fuel for all her naughtiest daydreams.

Celebrity divorce attorney Andrew Mulroney doesn’t have much time for women, especially spoiled tabloid princesses who spend more time on Page Six than at an actual job. Although Georgie’s drop-dead gorgeous, she’s also everything Andrew resents: the type of girl who inherited her penthouse instead of earning it. But after Andrew caps one of their predawn sparring sessions with a surprise kiss—a kiss that’s caught on camera—all of Manhattan is gossiping about whether they’re a real couple. And nobody’s more surprised than Andrew to find that the answer just might be yes.

Kiss and Make Up Series by Sara Ney REVIEW

Today, you're going to get three book reviews for the price of one, so saddle up! This series starts off as YA and then sort of trickles into NA but mostly stays within the YA parameters if you get what I mean.

KiC AmazonThis novel, along with all others in this series, is a standalone with no cliffhanger. You're welcome.
Studious and (mostly) sensible, the only thing Molly Wakefield wants to do is get through Senior Year and graduate. Well, that and hit the beach in her spare time. Okay, fine - and go shopping every once in a while for a new dress... (and who could blame her?)
And things are going according to plan - until the day she spies Weston McGrath, handsome star athlete and scholar, spying on her in study hall.
A tad creepy? Maybe.
Thrilling? Absolutely.
You see, Weston McGrath happens to be one guy no one can get close to.
Despite her best efforts to avoid it (because let's face it - the guy isn't exactly "boyfriend material") Molly and Weston form a friendship.
And more....
Sort of.
But it's a friendship that comes with a price - because Weston just cannot seem to stop screwing things up. Or saying all the wrong things. Possibly in that order...
And who has time for an 18 year old "fixer-upper" that should know better?
Not Molly.
Or does she?
Note: This YA book is intended for 17+ due to the vulgar language used by its male characters (and occasionally the females as well, even though they're too lady like to do it throughout the entire book). Some adult sexual situations that steam up a few car windows. This title is approx. 63,000 words.

Mini Review:
This was a really fun introduction to the series. As a YA book, it really found a fun balance between sweet, comedic and romantic. Molly is the teenage girl we all were and reading this took me back to those days. Weston was adorable (whilst also moody as hell) and I thought he and Molly were a great fit. Also, this book introduces us to Jenna and any book that does that is a fun book.

HKMF Amazon
This novel, along with all others in this series, is a standalone with no cliffhanger. You're welcome.

“Trust me – If there’s one thing I’m not attracted to, it’s the shrieking, overly-dramatic shrew that’s taken over my sister’s apartment. And what is up with her hair? I know what I want; an easy, uncomplicated lay – and Cecelia Carter sure as shit isn’t one. But I never could resist a challenge, and vow to wipe that condescending grin off her pretty face. Aw, shit. Did I just call her pretty..?” – Matthew Wakefield
"Trust me - If there's one thing I'm not attracted to, it's an arrogant, selfish and foul-mouth hockey player. I know what I want; someone who’s good for my body and soul and makes me laugh - and Matthew Wakefield isn't any of those things. I cannot stand the sight of him; I mean, what a jackass. If I refuse to give him anything but sass and sarcasm, it's only because he deserves it…” - Cecelia Carter
This book is intended for those 17 and older. If you're offended by cursing (particularly "F" bombs), sarcasm, sexual situations and Alpha Male jackasses - this book is not for you...

Mini review:
This is where the series begins to straddle the YA/NA territory. We've moved to college and meet the delightful Cece. This is a dumb trope that I love the hell out of: couples that can only communicate civilly via email/letter/anything that doesn't require a face to face. It really reminded me of Meg Cabot's Boy series which I enjoyed thoroughly. Cece and Matthew were an unlikely couple but once their story started it was easy to see how they somehow fit together.

AKLT AmazonThis novel, along with all others in this series, is a standalone with no cliffhanger. You're welcome.
She will never be “that” girl. You know the one: that girl on campus, confident in her own skin. Always saying the right things. Putting herself out there. Knows how to talk to a guy without stammering.
Nope. Shy but clever, and easily embarrassed, Abby is fine being the wallflower in her circle of outgoing, beautiful friends; she would rather read about a sexy book boyfriend than actually have a live, breathing one.
Star goaltender for the University’s hockey team, Caleb is quiet and broody, preferring the solitude of his orderly, regimented life. He doesn’t like, or need people—and plans to keep it that way. One more year left of hockey and he’ll be long gone.
AWKWARD NEVER LOOKED SO GOOD. Both their lives change the day that Abigail falls for Caleb. Well, falls directly on top of him, to be accurate. Because sometimes we don’t settle into love.
We fall there.
WARNING: This book contains cursing, and LOTS of it. It also has sex, uncomfortable and often awkward situations. Not to mention, the secondary characters say some really inappropriate s**t. Not intended for readers under 17

Mini review:

Sadly, this was probably my least favourite of the three. It seemed like Abby and Caleb didn't really have anything in common besides the fact that they're both awkward and their friends don't know how to leave them alone. Whilst they absolutely had some cute moments, it just felt a bit weird to me. Similarly, I wouldn't necessarily call either character likeable, Abby is super judgemental and Caleb is just grumpy for no reason and kind of degrading to women. I would say once you start the series you might as well finish, but personally, this book didn't appeal to me.

Series review:
  • I wished there'd been more emphasis on the hockey aspect
  • I loved that we had recurring/returning characters across the series
  • I love that all the characters had a meet the parents moment, made me laugh every time

13 Reasons Why - Netflix Review Book Vs TV

Image resultFollowing my Shadowhunters post, you know I love to dissect books that have been adapted to TV (I've just reminded myself I need to talk about whatever the hell s2 was)!!

I've made no secret of the fact that Jay Asher's Thirteen Reasons Why is one of my favourite books of all time so I was really looking forward to this adaptation.
Adapting books to screen is always a very interesting process, especially as with YA books producers and script writers are still really struggling with how to move the narrator's voice over effectively. 13 Reasons Why is lucky in that Hannah's narration is the literal essence of the plot, you cannot have the story without it, however when transferring to screen you can just watch it. I think this did a great job of knowing when to show not tell and vice versa.

This story was expanded on in many ways, some of which I liked, some of which I definitely did not. In order to move the story along due to Clay somehow not listening to these tapes overnight like he did in the books, there's a subplot in the current day. Additionally, the order of the tapes have been moved around, but I actually thought that was an interesting change, especially when being moved to a visual medium. To have characters after Clay that don't know what they've done doesn't really work as well.

More after the jump!
